PRESERVE QUALITY OF LIFE

Oppose More Traffic & High Density Housing

Escondido neighbors and friends, population growth is a fact of life. And Escondido, like other cities, created a General Plan in 2012 to guide the development to support that future growth in a way that makes sense for our community character.

Yet, one developer wants the Escondido City Council to approve a high-density plan of 392 homes and 63% MORE TRAFFIC for our community compared with a viable alternative plan of 158 homes. (Source: ‘The Villages’ Draft Environmental Impact Report; Chapter 4, Page 13).

According to their own traffic study, the developer of ‘The Villages’ estimates this plan will bring 4,280 MORE DAILY VEHICLE TRIPS (Source: ‘The Villages’ Draft Environmental Impact Report; Chapter 2, Pages 7-16).

Please join thousands of other Escondidans urging the Escondido City Council to REJECT the massive housing development called “The Villages” proposing 392 dwellings and UPHOLD our General Plan residential zoning on the former Escondido Country Club. Sign our petition TODAY!

Oppose 'The Villages' Rezoning

Dear Escondido City Council Members:

I am deeply concerned about the state of our quality of life and the preservation of our community character. As an Escondidan, I cherish our country-in-the-city way of life and fear setting a dangerous development precedent throughout our community.

‘The Villages’ developer New Urban West Inc. proposes an upzoning to build 392 homes, which their traffic study shows will lead to 4,280 more daily vehicle trips - or 63% more traffic - over the alternative 158-plan (Source: ‘The Villages’ Draft Environmental Impact Report; Chapter 2, Pages 7-16; Chapter 4, Page 13). Such an exception would open the door to other developers to pursue similar upzonings around the city.

Please reject ‘The Villages’ rezoning exemption to build 392 homes and support the alternative plan of 158 homes on the former Escondido Country Club land under the 2012 General Plan. Thank you.
